Arupadai Veedu – Six Holy Abodes of Lord Muruga (Six Houses of Lord Muruga or Six holy shrines of Lord Muruga)
Arupadai Veedu – Dhandaayudapani Temple is located in Palani, Dindugal near Coimbatore district. Here the idol is made up of medicinal amalgam of 9 toxic substances. Lord Muruga will give an appearance in the form of a young child in haunchcloth with Dhandam as weapon in his hand.
The temple has 365 steps symbolizing the 365 days of a year. Lord Muruga is celebrated during the festivals of Aadi krithikai and Aippasi Skanda sashti.
This temple has one of the largest temples with intricate structures in India. Thiruchendur temple is the richest temple amid the famous temples in Tamilnadu. This was the temple built by saints and it is ISO certified. The temple emphasizes RajaGopuram (gateway tower) in the western gate which is a rare occurence.
In this temple there are separate holy places for Lord Muruga and his two wives Valli and Deivayanai. Only one temple tower exists for the temple which is situated in Madurai.
Another Murugan abode in Madurai is this temple which looks gigantic and majestic. It also has independent idols for Parangirinathar(Lord Shiva) and aavudai Nayaki(Goddess Parvati).
This temple lies on the banks of River Cauvery. The temple stairs has 60 steps resembling 60 tamil years. Lord Muruga temple is at the top and his parents’ temples are at the bottom. Vaikasi visagam is famous in this temple
